Ken Roberts – Seaside Heights resident, borough employee, and fellow volunteer firefighter – was the lucky dog who won the gift basket. As it turns out, Kenny also has a serious interest in Seaside Heights history, so the fact that he won the gift basket inspired a sigh of relief from me.
The Seaside Heights Fire Dept. Auxiliary is hosting its second annual Taste of Seaside on 6/27/2011 between 4:30 PM and 7:30 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (The Hut). Tickets – Adult $20, Child $10, and Family $50. Come out & TASTE sample size food portions from your favorite local restaurants! 800-732-7467. As a side note – Andrea and I are sponsoring a Totally Seaside gift basket for a fundraising raffle to benefit the Auxiliary. The basket includes a signed copy of my Seaside Heights Postcard History book and postcard package that were published by Arcadia Publishing last year, a starter vintage postcard collector’s kit including 40 vintage Seaside Heights postcards and a collector’s album, one “sandcastle on the beach” stamp and ink pad, two beach towels, one Seaside Heights beach badge, Banana Boat broad spectrum sunscreen, three pair of flip flops, beach bucket and shovel, one ice pop tray, one box of Berkeley Sweet Shop salt water taffy, $25 gift certificate for the Magical Carousel Shoppe on the Boardwalk, 100 Casino Pier ride tickets, 100 Funtown Amusement Pier ride tickets, one DVD entitled “Seaside Heights 1970’s Tourism Film”, and one DVD entitled “Seaside Heights 1960 Tourism Film.” I estimate that the value of the gift basket is in the range of $500-$600. We are also including copies of some very special vintage Seaside Heights photographs from the Terry Groffie Collection. So, please come out and support this event and take a chance on what I believe is a most excellent gift basket!
