Anthony “Tony” Poane – Rest In Peace…
Anthony J. Poane, 80, of Seaside Heights, NJ died Thursday July 29, 2010 at Crystal Lake Healthcare, Bayville, NJ. Born and raised in Seaside Heights NJ he lived in Pompton Plains and Toms River prior to moving back to Seaside Heights over 45 years ago. Tony fought in the Korean War with the United States Army. He worked for the Borough of Seaside Heights for 30 years retiring in 1993 as Sanitation Foreman. Tony was a Life Member of the Seaside Heights Volunteer Fire Department where he also served as Captain and Financial Secretary, a Life Member of the New Jersey Firemen’s Relief Association, a member of the Ocean County Firemen’s Association and past Commander of the American Legion Post #351 in Seaside Heights. Tony was also a member of the Seaside Heights Italian American Club, the Moose Lodge in Ortley Beach and the Seaside Heights Fishing Club. He was an avid fisherman. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Seaside Heights. Tony was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he will be greatly missed by all.
Tony is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Connie, his father and mother Joseph & Jenny Poane, his brother Joseph Poane and his sister Jenny Reed. He is survived by two daughters Laura Lutes of Seaside Heights, NJ and Barbara & her husband Mark Risley of Toms River, NJ. Three granddaughters Abigail & Amanda Risley and Laura Gaughran and her husband Kevin. His sister Josephine Paino of Florida and his brother Albert Poane and his wife Sue of Seaside Heights. He also has several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday August 2, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 809 Central Avenue, Seaside Park, NJ 08752. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday August 3, 2010 10:00 Am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Seaside Heights, NJ. Burial will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ.
